And today was definitely one of those days where I did! A cardio & workout nut, that is. I slept in today and woke up feeling very well rested. It’s amazing what sleep and proper nutrients can do you for your body. I honestly feel like I am running like a well-oiled machine these days. I know that it’s because my diet is clean and I’m getting proper nutrients in the form of foods, vitamins and minerals.
Guess what? Our washing machine broke!! 🙁 I have to go to my mom’s tomorrow and do laundry till Tim and I get a new one. We prob will sometime this week. It is the first time in about 10 years or so I haven’t been able to do my laundry at home and you know what? It really sucks! LOL! It is taking me back to my second year of college when I had to put loads of stuff in my car and go to the laundromat. Oh those were the days! LOL
Today I had a big bowl of oats with my favorite protein (cake batter Vi-Shape) and headed to the gym. Had an INSANE shoulder workout and then did 45 mins of HIIT cardio on the step mill. 45 mins on that beast is a major achievement in my eyes. Heck, 15 mins can wear you out sometimes. I did level 8 Fat burner plus, cause I gotta get these glutes in gear for Nationals in Miami! When you are hit with the eye of the tiger to do that extra 15 mins of something, or turn the intensity up a notch, you have to take it!
It is 61 days till Nationals (not that I’m counting! 😉 ) and that will be my last show of the year, and possibly for a long time. I’m not really sure what the future will hold for me after that as far as competing goes. Tim and I have been working hard (ok, mostly Tim!) to grow Staggs Fitness and our new part-time venture with ViSalus, and it’s paying off.
So, I’ve been dieting 2 weeks now and so far so good. I didn’t really lose any weight the first week, and I forgot to weigh myself the second week, but things are tightening up already and that’s what I care about most. I need to be better about weighing myself and try to keep track of things (you know how I feel about weighing myself!!)
The goal I have set for myself for Nationals is to come in just a little tighter than I did at Jr. Nationals. I wasn’t told to, but I wasn’t told not to and I like myself lean. I need to keep the legs and glutes in line. I wish there were a way to do that without losing bodyfat on the upper body! My abs and shoulders/chest area always pretty lean and I just want them even out a bit! That said, even after my 8 weeks off the diet (been off the diet since Jr. Nationals on June 19) I can still see some lines in my legs that I didn’t even used to have on stage the first 2 years I competed. It’s a good feeling. I know I have a long way to go to get to my ideal lower body but every little bit of effort I have put in over the years has been worth it, because it’s showing. 🙂 Gotta love small achievements!
Mom and I went to see “The Help” yesterday. Have you guys seen it? If so, what did you think?
Hope you guys are having a great day.
